Upcoming Forum: Recharging Michigan? Plug-in Hybrids and the Smart Grid U of M Student Organization MPowered partners with TechKnow Forum to Fund Internships at Michigan-Based Alternative Energy Companies
Ann Arbor, MI - October 9, 2008 -- TechKnow Forum 2008 is partnering with the University of Michigan’s MPowered, a student led entrepreneurship organization, to fund student internships at Michigan-based alternative energy companies. MPowered is using their entrepreneurial savvy to sell tickets and TechKnow Forum has committed to donating $5 of each full price admission to support Michigan based green technology companies with student internships.
"We see this year's TechKnow Forum as a great way to get our organization and all students involved in understanding the interdisciplinary issues around plug-in hybrids and intelligent power delivery." said Cameron Graybeal, MPowered External Relations Director. "The opportunities for entrepreneurial growth in this sector are enormous." MPowered is committed to helping promote attendance at the event and in turn will receive support for new Michigan-based alternative energy internships. Students will be able to bring their resumes and meet with companies. The last TechKnow Forum focused on alternative fuels and was held at the Power Center, attracting over 700 attendees.
"Our future depends on finding solutions for energy independence, climate change and economic revitalization for Michigan. Our University student and research communities and their connections to business and policy are important in forming a community of change," said Deborah Mondro, a Director at the new U-M Business Engagement Center and one of the founders of TechKnow Forum. "We are excited to support the student community through this MPowered partnership, and we look forward to spirited discussions at TechKnow Forum 2008."
