Ann Arbor, MI, October 6, 2008 - TechKnow Forum 2008 is slated for Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 2 to 7 pm at the University of Michigan’s Power Center. This year's forum features keynote presenter John Denniston, Partner, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB.) KPCB is one of world's premier venture capital firms, located in Silicon Valley. Denniston works with a variety of portfolio companies with an emphasis on the Greentech industry. KPCB recently announced an energy investment alliance including Al Gore, who is also a KPCB partner. John Denniston has a keen interest in the Michigan economy, with university, business and family ties to our region.
TechKnow Forum 2008 will feature industry, academic and government policy experts addressing two topics of national importance: Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles and the Smart Grid. These presentations and discussions will target the impact on the domestic auto industry, our Michigan economy and the goals of energy independence and energy security.
Panelists include: Jon Lauckner, General Motors Global Development, Volt; Nancy Gioia, Ford Motor Company, Hybrid Vehicles; David Cole, Center for Automotive Research and other energy research, industry and policy experts. "This unique event brings together two very important and interdependent sectors for an expertly moderated discussion on the opportunities and challenges for Michigan and the world." said Ken Nisbet Executive Director, University of Michigan Tech Transfer. With interactive participation of virtual and online audiences the Forum's objective will be to chart a path to recharge Michigan with universities, government and businesses as partners.
Partnering with MPowered, a student entrepreneurial organization at the University of Michigan, TechKnow Forum 2008 will donate $5 from every paid admittance to a student internship at a Michigan-based energy technology company.
